DWC’s Culture and Core Values Are Our “Secret Sauce” for Success

Nearly every successful company has strong values that lie behind their success. At DWC Construction, our core values shine through in our daily work, successful projects, and in many other ways. Our values include a complete commitment to excellence and exceeding expectations with each job we complete. DWC Construction is a great place to work that builds great places to work for others.

Excellence in all ways across our enterprise

Excellence can mean a lot of different things, but at DWC Construction, we view excellence as exceeding standards as a general contractor for tenant buildouts as well as design-build projects. The end results are important. You can see examples of our recent projects in our portfolio.

Our goal with each project is to provide maximum value and quality without design compromises: on time and within budget. DWC Construction always follows through with our promises and timelines, and this value is the foundation of our commitment to excellence.

We don’t achieve these goals by compromising on excellence in other aspects of our work. We are one of middle Tennessee’s “Top Work Places” because we strive for excellence in all aspects of our business, from team building to the way we work together.

Teresa Walker, COO of Waller Law in Nashville’s City Center, said, “We needed a certain element of prestige, so it took a great deal of skill, planning and coordination. We could not have asked for a better finished product when all was said and done.” Ten years ago, DWC Construction renovated Waller Law’s workspace without interrupting their workflow, including a state-of-the-art conference center. We most recently updated their space with a more relaxed, contemporary feel to fit the firm’s current needs and practice.

Commitment to service and exceeding expectations

Since 1947, DWC Construction has been building Nashville’s workplaces and other commercial interiors. We understand what it takes to plan, execute, and complete a construction project, whether it’s a smaller job manageable by our CarpentersPlus division, or a full-scale design-build project.

Because we take a vested interest in every project we work on, we are able to provide you with service throughout every step of the construction process, from our initial meetings to pre-construction, construction, and completion. Communication is key: you can expect and will receive clear, up front communications throughout the process. As Tonya Lewis, owner of The Post East told us, “The Team at DWC worked very closely with us to make our vision come to life. In our interactions from start to finish, it just felt like we were part of a family more so than just customers.”

Teamwork and shared responsibility for your project and business

An occasional award is great for any business to receive, but receiving four straight years of recognition for being a “Top Work Place” from the Tennessean reflects our commitment to our workforce and our shared, core values. We pay attention to our team and give them the support they need to successfully complete your project. Our team offers experience in general contracting, design-build, and our CarpentersPlus service for smaller project and repair needs.

Treating others the way we want to be treated

According to the founder and CEO of the SAS Institute, Jim Goodnight, “Treat employees like they make a difference, and they will.” Our President and CEO John Arndt shares this philosophy and has put it into action. This core value is one of the reasons why Nashville Business Journal has chosen John as the Most Admired CEO five times in six years.

John knows that building a strong team is crucial to DWC Construction’s success, and he’s confident that the DWC team can solve any construction problem.

And, this core value could be the most important one of all, although we at DWC Construction believe that all of our core values are equally important, starting with treating others the way we want to be treated and showing that we care:

  • Excellence in everything we do
  • Commitment to serving our clients by exceeding their expectations
  • Being part of a team; we each take responsibility for the client experience

We’re confident that you share similar core values, and that’s the foundation of a great business partnership. When Nashville’s commercial interiors serve all of our businesses well, this can only build our community. In addition to our commitment to excellence in our work and business relationships, we also believe in supporting the community through volunteer efforts and contributions to our local organizations. After 75 years, we’ve learned a lot, including the fact that having good core values is a “secret sauce” for success.
